INTIPATI MoU USM DAN WONDFO BIOTECH

USM, KUBANG KERIAN, KELANTAN, 14 July 2024 – Today, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Guangzhou Wondfo Biotech Co., Ltd. China in the related field of biotechnology to solidifying joint research.

The cooperation is seen as a means of to realizing and expanding opportunities in the field of research and training that can benefit both parties in their efforts to further advance this field.

The MoU signing ceremony was officiated by Campus Director, USM Health Campus, Professor Dr. Shaiful Bahari Ismail, representing USM's Naib Canselor and Dean of USM's Medical Science Study Centre (PPSP), Professor Dr. Abdul Razak Sulaiman for the USM side, while Guangzhou Wondfo Biotech Co., Ltd. was represented by Naib President, Wenjie Xu and International Marketing Director, Guanze Ding.

Shaiful stated in his remarks that he was very proud of the collaboration and hoped USM would continue to advance in the field of biotechnology research.

"This cooperation can strengthen the relationship between Malaysia and China to contribute more research in this field towards more advanced technology.

"This MoU is also a testament to the shared commitment between USM and Wondfo to close the gap between academia and industry in addition to fostering a cooperative ecosystem that benefits both parties.

"We recognise that the transformational power of education can only be fully realised when it is aligned with industry needs and demands. Therefore, this collaboration also aims to create a smooth transition for graduates into the professional world, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and mindset needed to thrive in their careers," he said.

Meanwhile, Wenjie Xu also said that his party welcomed the cooperation, which could strengthen the two-way relationship between Wondfo and USM, which is among the best universities in the field of medicine and research.

Also present at the assembly were Timbalan-timbalan Dean of PPSP USM, Chairman of Jabatan, Jabatan Anestesiologi PPSP USM, Professor Madya Dr. Wan Mohd Nazaruddin Wan Hassan; Chairman of Jabatan, Jabatan Patologi Kimia PPSP USM, Dr. Aniza Mat Jelani@ Mohammed Jelani, as well as the MoU Coordinator between USM and Guangzhou Wondfo Biotech Co. Ltd., Professor Madya Dr. Mohd Zulfakar Mazlan and Dr. Wan Norlina Wan Azman.
