USM - BAT MoU DESIGNS EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT AND EXPLORATION OF BOTH STATE'S INTERESTS

USM, KUBANG KERIAN, KELANTAN, 15 July 2024 - Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bukhara Avicenna Texnikumi (BAT), Uzbekistan, today, towards the stabilisation of academic programs and research through strategic cooperation with the overseas academic institution.

This collaboration is expected to realize and further expand opportunities in related fields that benefit both parties.

The MoU signing ceremony was officiated by the Director, Institut Penyelidikan Perubatan Molekul (INFORMM), Professor Madya Dr. Aziah Ismail representing the Naib Canselor of USM and the Dean of Pusat Pengajian Sains Pergigian (PPSG), Professor Madya Dr. Mohd Fadhli Khamis for the USM side, and BAT represented by its Director, Pavan Abraham and BAT Director, Dr. Mansing Pawar.

According to Aziah, with this collaboration, USM and BAT can exchange views in their respective expertise, and it adds value to both parties.

"This collaboration is seen to open up brighter opportunities between the two parties through expertise in research and academic fields, especially those that lead to science and medicine.

"So, the principle is to add more collaborations in research and academic programs in order to produce experts who are needed in the job market and also have a big impact on the world globally one day," she said when speaking at the assembly today.

Aziah explained that USM is taking advantage of the opportunity to collaborate with BAT in order to expand beneficial partnerships and boost USM's image on the world stage in the future.

Meanwhile, Pavan Abraham in his speech also said that he was very touched by this collaboration and hoped that the collaboration between the two parties would continue for a longer period of time for the purpose of improvement and new knowledge, especially in the field of dentistry.

Also present at the ceremony were the Timbalan Dean of Research, Innovation, and Libatsama Industri Komuniti, PPSG USM, Professor Madya Dr. Suharni Mohamad; the Deputy Dean of Postgraduate and International Studies, PPSG USM, Professor Madya Dr. Yanti Johari, and the MoU Coordinator between USM and Bukhara Avicenna Texnikumi, Professor Madya, Dr. Wan Nazatul Shima Shahidan.
