ECRI-HPUSM Collaboration Aims to Strengthen National Healthcare Landscape
USM, KUBANG KERIAN, KELANTAN, 20 May 2025 – Hospital Pakar Universiti Sains Malaysia (HPUSM), led by its Director, Professor Dato’ Dr. Ab Rahman Izaini Ghani @ Ab Ghani, welcomed a visit from Dr. Marcus Schabacker, President and Chief Executive Officer of Emergency Care Research Institute (ECRI) , along with his delegation. The visit, which took place yesterday, aimed to strengthen strategic cooperation in the field of healthcare.
ECRI is a non-profit organization based in the United States, internationally recognized as an independent authority in health technology research, evaluation, and patient safety. With over five (5) decades of experience, ECRI serves as a key reference point for policymakers, healthcare providers, and medical technology manufacturers worldwide.
The visit featured a bilateral discussion session focusing on collaboration to enhance the quality of community healthcare services. Also presented were proposed solutions to critical issues such as competitive gaps, the need for upgrading medical equipment, and measures to reduce long-term treatment complications among patients.
Dr. Schabacker also shared insights and the latest innovations being developed globally, paving the way for HPUSM to explore new, more productive and efficient approaches to healthcare delivery.
This collaboration between ECRI and HPUSM is expected to have a positive impact on the national healthcare landscape through technology sharing and the transfer of expertise aligned with international standards.
